February 19, Fineko/abc.az. The desire of the Armenian authorities to replace Russia in the management of the republic's railways is an unfinished decision, the built system can "break down overnight" after this, ABC.AZ informs, quoting Russian Security Council’s Secretary Sergei Shoigu.
"I will not assess the competence of other states in railway management, but I can confidently say that it is unlikely that any other company will be able to fully replace the Russian railway carrier, which has been operating efficiently and for a long time in Armenia in difficult conditions," Shoigu said.
The Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation pointed out that for almost 20 years, South Caucasus Railway CJSC (SCR) has been responsibly fulfilling the provisions of the concession agreement, including those related to investments. According to Shoigu, during this time, Russian investments in the Armenian railway system, including rolling stock, are estimated at more than 30 billion rubles.
