June 3, Fineko/abc.az. Reconstruction of the Sarsang water storage reservoir in Karabakh region of Azerbaijan will begin this year, ABC.AZ informs, quoting Regional Water Reclamation Service’s Deputy Chairman Ilham Guliyev.

He added that Sarsang is not only a reservoir, but also a large hydraulic engineering complex.

"The total volume of the Sarsang Reservoir is 560 million cu m, of which 500 million cu m account for the useful volume. Currently, the volume of accumulated water has reached 320 million cu m and continues to increase. The complex includes a hydroelectric power plant with capacity of 50 MW, the Sugovushan reservoir and a hydroelectric power plant, as well as the main channels Sugovushan and Terterchai," Guliyev said.

He pointed out that in 2022-2023, major repairs were carried out at the Sugovushan hydroelectric complex, the Terterchay main canal and the left-bank canal.

"The reconstruction of the right-bank canal will begin after completion of mine clearance work," Guliyev added.
