December 29, Fineko/abc.az. All the bus routes in Baku, equipped with cashless payment system have activated payment acceptance via NFC-supported bank cards, as well as Apple Pay and Google Pay services.

ABC.AZ informs, referring to the Azerbaijan Land Transport Agency (AYNA), that the new cashless payment system is already operating throughout the city.

One of the key innovations of the new system was expansion of the possibility of sequential payments. Currently, passengers are allowed to make up to two consecutive payments instead of one. This function was introduced at the initial stage of the NFC project, and is to further increase the number of such operations.

AYNA noted that the new system provides passengers with additional amenities.

"There is no need to carry cash or physical card BakıKart with you. Payment can be made in a matter of seconds using a smartphone, smartwatch, bank card or other NFC-enabled device - it is enough to bring it to the validator," the Agency says.

AYNA also emphasizes that bus fares are paid exclusively using NFC-supported local bank cards, as well as via Apple Pay and Google Pay, both from a physical card and from a smartphone.
