October 29, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijan's economic reforms, strategic position in the South Caucasus, and rich energy resources have led to strong economic growth and significant poverty reduction.
ABC.AZ informs that this is stated in the first WB periodic Azerbaijan Country Economic Review (ACER).
It was noted that the importance attached by the government to macroeconomic stability allowed the country to combat volatility, including the 2015 oil price shock and COVID-19 pandemic, maintain fiscal and foreign trade surpluses, low government debt and significant macroeconomic reserves.
A recent analysis shows that, in the 1st half of 2025, the oil & gas sector declined by 3.2%, while the non-oil sector grew by 3.9%. Activities in the construction, transport, ICT and retail sectors have returned to normal. The agricultural and tourism sectors maintained their growth rates.
