Australia Returns to Trade Surplus Driven by Resource Exports

20:50 - 4.06.2026

June 4, Fineko/abc.az. Australia posted a trade surplus of 1.79 billion Australian dollars in April, bouncing back from a deficit recorded in March.

ABC.AZ reports that the turnaround was driven by high commodity prices and a surge in exports, which reached a three-year high.

The resource sector played a pivotal role, with shipments of ores and resources rising sharply. Meanwhile, imports saw only a marginal increase due to weakening domestic demand, including a sharp decline in purchases of data center equipment.
