June 5, Fineko/abc.az. India's economy grew by 7.8% in the fourth financial quarter (January–March 2026).
ABC.AZ reports that this was stated in a report by the country's Ministry of Statistics, as cited by CNBC.
The consensus forecast of analysts surveyed by the American television channel had predicted India's GDP to expand by 7.2% during the January–March period.
India's economic outlook improved sharply in the first half of the past quarter after concluding a trade deal with the European Union and successfully securing a reduction in US tariffs on its goods from 50% to 18%. Furthermore, after the US Supreme Court ruled the tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump unlawful, the rate was reduced even further to 10%.
