June 2, Fineko/abc.az. The Azerbaijan State Oil Company (SOCAR) will create an artificial intelligence and data center in Azerbaijan.

ABC.AZ informs that SOCAR President Rovshan Najaf made the relevant statement during panel discussions organized on the second day of the Baku Energy Week.

He noted that SOCAR is expanding the scope of its activities and investing in new projects in the field of energy and digital technologies: "SOCAR started as an oil company, then turned into an oil & gas company, and at the next stage into an energy company, including renewable energy sources and combined gas turbine power plants in its portfolio. The next stage of company's development relates to the field of data centers and artificial intelligence infrastructure. Like many companies in the energy sector, we invest in data centers and artificial intelligence. This area is of strategic importance for maintaining competitiveness in the long term."
