May 21, Fineko/abc.az. The breakdown of negotiations between Samsung Electronics and the Samsung National Electronics Union (NSEU), as well as the subsequent large-scale strike at the production facilities of the world's largest chip manufacturer, could lead to serious disruptions in the global supply chain.
ABC.AZ reports that newspaper Izvestiya informs about this, noting the potential threat to the global artificial intelligence industry.
The reason for the protests was disagreement over the profit-sharing system. Earlier, the company reported a 48-fold increase in profits for its semiconductor division. Against this background, the union demanded that employees receive 15% of operating profit in the form of annual bonuses, as well as lift current restrictions on bonuses and raise salaries even in unprofitable divisions.
In turn, Samsung Electronics management offered to allocate 10% of profits to bonuses, but refused to increase payments to unprofitable departments in order to avoid setting a precedent.
