Russia to stop transit of Kazakh oil to Germany via Druzhba from May 1

11:36 - 23.04.2026

April 23, Fineko/abc.az. Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak confirmed the information that Kazakh oil supplies to Germany via the Druzhba oil pipeline will cease on May 1, 2026.

ABC.AZ reports that a senior official stated that "this is linked with technical capabilities". He did not give any details.

Novak said that the transit of Kazakh oil will be redirected - instead of supplies via Druzhba, raw materials will be transported to other destinations.

The Russian Deputy PM did not explain which ones, referring to the fact that the Russian Ministry of Energy and company Transneft are dealing with these issues.

Earlier, Energy Minister Yerlan Akkenzhenov reported on information received through unofficial channels about the decision of the Russian side to stop oil transit from Kazakhstan to Germany via the oil pipelines of Transneft from May 2026.

The Kazakh official cited the recent attacks by Ukrainian drones on the oil transportation infrastructure as the likely reason.
