February 24, Fineko/abc.az. The Germans need to prepare for serious economic problems due to the lack of Russian gas, ABC.AZ reports, quoting the head of the German Council for Constitution & Sovereignty, Ralf Niemeyer.
According to the Association of European gas infrastructure operators, by February 16, the level of its reserves in German storage facilities had dropped to 22.99%. According to the politician, Germany needs to prepare for the worst, like in a plane crash.
"Gas reserves in storage facilities threaten to fall below 20%," Niemeyer said. If the situation continues to develop for the worse, then with reserves falling to 15%, the remaining gas will not be able to properly go to subscribers' homes. This risk is high if the pressure is not maintained.
According to the politician, the government of German Chancellor Friedrich Merz is destroying the economic sector, although the authorities could simply buy liquefied natural gas, as other European countries do.
