Saudi Arabia to launch three new airlines as part of Vision 2030

November 26, Fineko/abc.az. Saudi Arabia has announced plans to launch three new airlines to boost tourism and diversify its economy under the Vision 2030 program.

ABC.AZ reports that the first will be a low-cost airline to be created by a consortium led by Air Arabia. It will start operating in Dammam and by 2030 will carry up to 10 million passengers per year, operating flights to 24 domestic and 57 international destinations.

The second carrier will be based in Medina and serve religious tourism by providing direct flights for pilgrims.

Details about the third airline have not yet been disclosed.

Saudi Arabia, previously closed to mass tourism, plans to attract 150 million tourists by 2030, including 50 million foreign tourists.
