November 24, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijan plans to commission 500 electric buses in 2025 and increase their number to 1,100 by 2026.

ABC.AZ reports that in order to form a fleet of electric buses at the expense of local production, Azerbaijani-Chinese joint venture Azerbaijan Energy Automotive Factory LLC was created, designed to produce 500 buses a year.

The company, created on the initiative of the Business Development Fund under the Ministry of Economy, SARDA Group and Chinese company BYD, began operating at the end of September 2025.

The plant plans to produce 300 electric buses by the end of 2025: 200 buses for Baku, 60 buses for Nakhchivan and 40 buses for the Karabakh region.
