November 3, Fineko/abc.az. Emirates has introduced new weather forecasting systems based on artificial intelligence and turbulence detection in real time.
ABC.AZ informs that the air carrier has combined information to more accurately predict air turbulence from multiple platforms, including programs SkyPath, Lufthansa Systems' Lido mPilot, and IATA's Turbulence Aware.
"We cannot completely eliminate turbulence, but through partner systems and state-of-the-art technology, we strive to minimize unexpected situations," said Hassan Alhammadi, Senior Vice President of Flight Management at Emirates.
He added that airline's initiatives have already led to significant reduction in the number of incidents due to turbulence over the past year.
According to a study by the University of Reading, turbulence has increased over the past 40 years because of climate change, which has affected air flows at cruising altitudes.
