October 1, Fineko/abc.az. Digital water resources management reforms will be implemented in Azerbaijan as part of the National Strategy for the Rational Use of Water Resources (2024-2040).

ABC.AZ reports that the chairman of the State Agency for Water Resources of Azerbaijan, Zaur Mikayilov, made the above-said statement on the third day of the Baku Climate Action Week (BCAW2025).

According to Mikayilov, the Strategy includes introduction of new technologies: "The Strategy provides for the creation of real-time monitoring systems, basin-level management and the creation of an electronic water information system. These reforms will increase transparency and accountability, as well as efficiency."

The head of the agency stressed that thanks to the new systems, water loss will be more accurately prevented both in cities and in agriculture, and efficiency in management will be ensured.
