September 22, Fineko/abc.az. An agreement on the design, construction, operation and maintenance of a desalination plant in the Caspian Sea has been signed between Azerbaijan and ACWA Power from Saudi Arabia.

ABC.AZ informs that the document was signed within the 1st Azerbaijan International Investment Forum (AIIF-2025) in Baku.

The document was signed by Zaur Mikayilov, the chairman of the State Agency for Water Resources of Azerbaijan, and Marco Arcelli, CEO at ACWA Power.

The agreement covers the stages of design, construction, financing, operation and maintenance. The project is aimed at effective management of water resources in the region and increasing the availability of drinking water.

In addition, an "Agreement on the purchase of treated water" was signed at the forum. This document was signed by Z.Mikhailov, Chairman of the Board of the Joint Water Supply Service of Major Cities, Tahir Khalilov and M.Arcelli.
