Tajikistan’s Foreign Ministry: Outcomes achieved in Baku will promote international water cooperation

September 11, Fineko/abc.az. The outcomes achieved in Baku will contribute to international cooperation in the water sector, Manucher Jobir, Head of the Department for Foreign Economic Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan, said during a panel in Baku.

According to ABC.AZ, citing Report, Jobir emphasized that the event, organized at the initiative of Azerbaijan, serves as a timely platform for regional and international dialogue. He noted that the topics of water diplomacy, innovation, investment, and science are closely aligned with Tajikistan’s priorities.

“Tajikistan will hold its first Dushanbe Water Conference in 2026. This event will form part of the UN Water Conference, which is also scheduled to take place in the United Arab Emirates in 2026. Additionally, a preparatory stage for the UN Water Conference is expected to be held in Tajikistan in 2028,” he said.

He also highlighted that the “Baku Water Week,” organized at Azerbaijan’s initiative, serves as an important example of cooperation in the water sector, the application of innovative solutions, and the strengthening of regional partnerships.

Jobir noted that the outcomes achieved at the event will support international water efforts, including work within the framework of the Dushanbe Water Process: “Together with our friends and partners in Azerbaijan, we are ready to strengthen water diplomacy and global water cooperation.”
