June 17, Fineko/abc.az. Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Serik Zhumangarin held talks with Iranian Minister of Roads and Urban Development Farzane Sadek.
The parties agreed to accelerate development of transport corridors, port infrastructure and investment cooperation.
ABC.AZ informs that the key result was an agreement on the transfer of a site in the Iranian port of Shahid Rajai to Kazakhstan, which will allow developing logistics capacities in the southern direction. Kazakhstan's access to the Chabahar port, which opens access to the markets of South and Southeast Asia, was also discussed.
Considerable attention is paid to the North-South corridor, the volume of traffic along which increased to 3.5 million tons in 2025, including a 69% rise in rail traffic. The parties plan to modernize the infrastructure and increase the capacity of the route up to 20 million tons a year.
Kazakhstan also expressed its readiness to provide Iranian companies with port facilities in Aktau and Kuryk to strengthen cooperation in the Caspian Sea.
