June 17, Fineko/abc.az. Central Asia is the region where Azerbaijan's trade and transport links have been developing most rapidly over the past five years.
ABC.AZ informs that Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov said this at a dialogue session with the Chairman of the Board of Governors on the topic "Azerbaijan as host and coordinator: green transformation, regional integration and strategic partnership" within the 51st annual meeting of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) Group.
According to Jabbarov, Azerbaijan considers relations with Central Asian countries in the region as an integral part of a single economic ecosystem: "Azerbaijan has three active investment funds with Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan. Azerbaijan's share in these funds is 50%, 75% and 100%, respectively. We encourage investments from both the public and private sectors in these countries, as well as demonstrate our openness to attracting investments from these countries."
He noted that Azerbaijan acts as a natural hub for Central Asian countries rich in energy and mineral resources, providing access to the west through the Middle Corridor: "Azerbaijan intends to become a regional platform for the movement of not only freight traffic, but also ideas and innovations. Today, one of the new forms of interconnectedness is cooperation in the fields of data centers, telecommunications, data transmission and artificial intelligence. Azerbaijan's geographical location allows us to expand regional cooperation in these areas."
The minister added that the country is striving to deepen cooperation with Member States both on the IDB platform and in bilateral formats.
