June 17, Fineko/abc.az. Among the main advantages of the Alat FEZ is its proximity to the Baku International Seaport, as well as its location at the junction of international transport corridors East-West and North-South.

ABC.AZ informs that Valeh Aleskerov, Chairman of the Board of the Alat FEZ, said this at the 20th Global Forum on Islamic Finance of the IDB, organized as part of the annual meeting of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) Group in Baku.

He noted that this strategic geographical location creates conditions for residents to use wide transport and logistics opportunities.

In addition, in accordance with the agreement reached with local cargo company Silk Way Airlines, construction of a cargo airport has already begun in the territory of the Alat zone.

"Presumably, this will be one of the first cargo airports built within the free economic zone, and it is planned to be put into operation next year. The main purpose of the construction of the cargo airport is to provide enterprises operating in the zone with the opportunity to use sea, road and rail transport, as well as air transportation services. This will open up additional prospects, especially for high-tech companies. So without a modern logistics infrastructure, it is quite difficult to attract such companies to similar zones," he said.
