June 17, Fineko/abc.az. Construction works in the Phase 3 heavy industry zone have begun in the Alat Free Economic Zone.

ABC.AZ informs that the chairman of board of the Baku Zone, Valeh Alekperov, said this during the 51st annual meeting of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) Group within the 20th Global Forum on Islamic Finance of the IDB, taking place in Baku.

"We opened our doors to potential investors in July 2023 after completion of construction on the first 60 hectares of land. However, given the high demand, we had to start construction work on the next stage - on a plot of 138 hectares. For the same reason, construction work has also begun in the development area designated for heavy industry and known as Phase 3. As I mentioned earlier, Silk Way Airlines is building a cargo airport on the territory of the Alat Free Economic Zone. We hope this project will attract even more investors from the high-tech sector," he noted.
