June 5, Fineko/abc.az. Serbia has agreed on additional gas supplies from Russian company Gazprom for another 3 months - until the end of September 2026, ABC.AZ informs, referring to country's energy minister.
The extension of the agreement after June 30 was confirmed by Serbian Energy Minister Dubravka Jedovic-Handanovic following a meeting with Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Board of Directors, in St. Petersburg, Tanjug news agency reports.
The minister stressed the strategic importance of this step: "This is important for our country, for our citizens, for our economy, because these are stable supplies, extremely profitable in price, as well as because of their flexibility and volume."
It is worth noting that in March Serbia had already extended the gas supply contract with Russia for 3 months.
Cheaper Russian gas imports cover up to 90% of Serbia's needs. Nevertheless, official Belgrade is seeking to diversify supplies through gas from Azerbaijan and liquefied natural gas (LNG) from terminals in Greece.
