May 21, Fineko/abc.az. The Palestinian Authority is considering applying Azerbaijan's experience in post-conflict reconstruction to the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip.
ABC.AZ reports that Palestinian Authority Minister of Local Government Sami A. Hijjawi said this on the sidelines of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku.
The minister noted that the Palestinian and Azerbaijani sides support cooperation in the area of local government.
"The previous day, we held a meeting with representatives of the country on local government issues and learned about the work Azerbaijan has done in the reconstruction of Karabakh and areas affected by military action. We are convinced that sharing experiences and utilizing Azerbaijani developments will be of exceptional importance to us in the reconstruction of Gaza, which has been subjected to large-scale and devastating attacks. I believe that all opportunities for such cooperation are open," Hijjawi stated.
The minister also emphasized that, in the future, the country intends to adopt Azerbaijan's experience in large-scale transformations based on the concepts of smart city and smart village.
"We hope that an exchange of specialists in this field will soon be organized. We discussed this issue yesterday with Anar Guliyev, head of the State Committee for Urban Development and Architecture, and agreed to utilize Azerbaijan's experience. I believe we will send our experts, architects, and engineers to study Azerbaijan's practical experience in this area in depth," Hijjawi concluded.
