April 9, Fineko/abc.az. A new package of measures is being developed in Azerbaijan to improve the existing regulatory framework in the field of personal data protection and confidentiality.

ABC.AZ informs that it is planned to strengthen the legislative requirements in the field of information security, which will be applied to Internet service providers.

In this direction, it is planned to develop relevant regulations on the obligations of intermediary companies, restrictions applied to the information collection process, compensation mechanisms, as well as other legal requirements.

At the same time, it is expected that the mechanism for informing ISPs of relevant competent authorities about incidents of data privacy violations will be further clarified. It also provides for the development of projects aimed at improving legislation in this area. These measures are planned to be implemented by the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, as well as the Electronic Security Service by December 2026.
