April 6, Fineko/abc.az. The Netherlands is gradually pumping gas into underground storage facilities to prepare for winter.
ABC.AZ informs that NRC reports about this with reference to Gasunie. The first download of the new season took place on April 2. The storage occupancy rate last week was nearly 4.8–5.8%, with typical value of 35%. The season lasts from April to October, by the end of which stocks should reach 87%.
The Dutch Ministry of Climate allows the appointment of an injection operator in an unfavorable market situation. The volume of incoming gas has not yet been disclosed, but the start of pumping is considered a positive signal.
Gas prices have risen sharply since March amid geopolitics and disruptions to shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, reaching €50-60 per MWh. The monthly growth was more than 40%, which increases the cost of gas for consumers to €1.29–1.66 per cubic meter. The lack of strategic reserves and the low level of storage capacity make the market sensitive to external shocks.
