January 28, Fineko/abc.az. In recent years, the number of cargo vehicles in Azerbaijan has increased more than by 3,400 trucks and reached 14,193 trucks.
ABC.AZ informs that Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rahman Gummatov stated this at a round table in Baku.
According to Gummatov, there are many "authorization forms", services have been converted to electronic format, and the market share in bilateral cargo transportation has increased from 39% to 50%: "This has created significant employment opportunities in the field of international road freight transportation. At the same time, there is shortage of staff. We mainly need professional drivers and specialists in the maintenance and repair of trucks. Taking into account these difficulties, a new project has been launched to support national carriers."
He noted that within the project, trainings are being conducted to train drivers of categories C and CE in the field of international cargo transportation: "As a result, the assessment will be conducted by the State Examination Center, and drivers will be issued certificates valid for 7 years and giving the right to work in the field of international cargo transportation. In the future, the possibility of their employment and interaction with carriers will be created. The aim of the project is to train 5,000 new drivers and ensure their participation in the international market."
