December 18, Fineko/abc.az. According to the forecast of the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB), the global economy will slow down slightly in 2026 compared to the dynamics of 2024-2025.
ABC.AZ informs that Evgeny Vinokurov, Vice Chairman and Chief Economist at the EDB, made this statement at the presentation of the report "Macroeconomic Forecast for 2026-2028".
"Growth will continue, but it will be more moderate. This is largely due to the adaptation to the new rules of the game, primarily to trade barriers and tariffs. According to our estimates, the U.S. economy will grow by about 1.6%, and the eurozone by around 1%. China, as before, will remain the main engine of global growth: country's economy may add 4.6%," Vinokurov said.
According to EDB analysts, inflation in the U.S. and the eurozone will remain above target levels in 2026-2028. At that, the dynamics of interest rates will vary: in the U.S., the decline in consumer prices will be slow due to rising costs amid tariff conflicts, while the ECB, according to the EDB forecast, has completed a cycle of rate cuts in 2025 and will begin to gradually increase them in 2026-2027.
