November 24, Fineko/abc.az. A detailed mitigation plan is proposed to achieve the decarbonization goals by 2035.

ABC.AZ informs, referring to the updated document "Nationally Determined Contributions" (NDC 3.0) of Azerbaijan.

The report highlights that these include expansion and modernization of metro, bus and railway networks; encouraging the transition to public transport and micromobility; increasing the use of rail transport; initial decommissioning of the fleet of vehicles with internal combustion engines and urban renewal; increasing the share of electric vehicles among cars, buses and trucks; stimulating promotion programs electric vehicles; use of biofuels and their mixing, including aviation fuel.

Transition to sustainable transport will require significant investments in the infrastructure of electric vehicles, especially in the modernization of charging stations and power grids. Despite the initial high costs, operating costs of electric vehicles are expected to decrease in the long term due to lower fuel and maintenance costs.

In addition, Azerbaijan, with the participation of Azerishig OJSC and Azerenergy OJSC, plans to expand the charging infrastructure for electric vehicles in Baku, the regions and the liberated territories. Charging stations will be installed at four transport hubs to service electric buses on the final routes.
