November 21, Fineko/abc.az. Rosmorport (a Russian company that manages Russian seaports and their infrastructure) has terminated the contract with Turkish shipyard Kuzey Star for the construction of two icebreakers of project 23620, partly because after their redesign, the cost increased from 18.5 billion up to 32 billion rubles.
ABC.AZ reports that the head of the company, Sergey Pylin, told journalists about this.
According to Pylin, the advance paid to the Turkish contractor was returned by the Onega Shipbuilding & Ship Repair Plant to the budget.
The contract was signed in July 2021, it involved the construction of two icebreakers with capacity of 12-14 MW Icebreaker7 class, initially it was planned to transfer the icebreakers to the customer in 2024, then the terms were extended by two years.
