November 18, Fineko/abc.az. In the first 9 months of 2025, Azerbaijan has sharply increased domestic production of copper ores and concentrates, as well as increased the share of exports.

ABC.AZ informs that for Jan-Sept 2025, the country exported 16,066 tons of copper for $29.9 million (Jan-Sept 2024 - only 729.8 tons of copper for $1.47 million). Thus, an increase in volume means a rise of about 22-fold and in value - close to 20-fold).

Since 2023, country’s copper production has decreased that was caused by a break in extraction of non-ferrous and precious metals in Gedabek by UK’s Anglo Asian Mining plc because of an environmental problem. And in the first 9 months of this year, copper production in the country amounted to 2,766.6 tons (almost 25-fold higher than in the previous year). This increase occurred due to the start of production at the iron ore mine of Anglo Asian Mining plc and the full quarterly Gilar mine activity. During the same period, 1,576 tons of copper were mined in Gedabek and 711 tons in Demirli.
