July 18, Fineko/abc.az. Replacement of corn syrup with cane sugar in Coca-Cola beverage production will lead to the loss of thousands of jobs in the U.S. food industry, ABC.AZ reports, quoting John Bode, CEO of the Corn Processors Association.

"Replacement of high-fructose corn syrup with cane sugar will lead to the loss of thousands of jobs in the American food industry, lower incomes for farmers and increased sugar imports, all without any nutritional benefits," Bode said on the association's website.

In his opinion, the decision to change the composition of the drink "does not make sense".

Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump announced an agreement with the Coca-Cola Company to change the formulation of its main carbonated drink in the U.S. and the mandatory use of natural cane sugar in its production instead of corn syrup.
