Finance Ministry discusses public finance management with WB

May 21, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijani First Deputy Minister of Finance Anar Kerimov has met with a delegation led by Fabienne Mroczka, Chief Public Sector Specialist at the World Bank.

ABC.AZ reports, referring to the Ministry of Finance, during the meeting the sides discussed program "Strengthening the capacity of the medium-term budgetary system in Azerbaijan", jointly supported by the WB and Swiss organization SECO, as well as prospects for further cooperation.

Kerimov noted that this cooperation is important for strengthening fiscal discipline, strategic budget planning and introduction of effective management mechanisms. The program has already achieved significant results in accelerating the transition to program-oriented budgeting.

Issues of digitalization of public finance management, introduction of modern information systems and modernization of the digital ecosystem were also covered.

Fabienne Mroczka, in turn, stressed that the ongoing reforms play an important role in modernizing the public finance management system and strengthening institutional capacity.

In addition, issues of effective budgeting mechanisms in the fields of healthcare, youth and sports, culture and media, organization of trainings for relevant departments, as well as fiscal risk management were considered.
