May 15, Fineko/abc.az. Energy platform Karadeniz Powership Osman Khan ensured nearly 26% of Ghana's electricity needs, ABC.AZ reports, referring to the Ghana State Electric Company.

The vessel, which is almost 300 m long and 50 m wide, was refitted by Turkish company Karpowership and began operating off the coast of Ghana in 2017. The station's generators are capable of generating up to 480 MW of power.

Karpowership, a subsidiary of Karadeniz Holding, effectively controls the global floating power plant market, with a fleet with total capacity of over 8,000 MW. The use of such solutions allows developing countries to quickly cover shortage of generation, avoiding large investments and long construction periods of traditional thermal power plants.

The floating power plant model is used by Karpowership in Africa, Latin America and Asia. In April 2026, vessel Belgin Sultan was sent to Cuba to stabilize island's energy supply.
