Baku–Tbilisi–Kars railway capacity to triple by 2034

The cargo capacity of the Baku–Tbilisi–Kars (BTK) railway is expected to increase from the current 5 million tons to 17 million tons per year by 2034, Turhan Dilmac, Head of Department at the Center for Strategic Studies of the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said during the 13th session of the CICA Think Tank Forum.

According to ABC.AZ, citing Report, he noted that Türkiye will continue to strengthen cooperation with Azerbaijan and Central Asian countries to expand the capabilities of the Middle Corridor.

Dilmac emphasized that the Middle Corridor naturally aligns with the Belt and Road Initiative, and Ankara has attached special importance to this project from its early stages.
