Core developer Gemini leaves Google and moves to OpenAI

June 18, Fineko/abc.az. Noam Shazir, vice president of Google and one of the leaders of the Gemini project, left the company and joined OpenAI.

Shazir announced the decision on social network X, stressing that he was enthusiastically starting work in a new team.

ABC.AZ reports that his departure comes amid increased competition between the largest players in the AI market.

Shazir had previously left Google and founded Character.AI, and in 2024 returned to the company to strengthen Gemini's direction.
