Microsoft invests up to $10 bn in AI and cloud technologies in Japan

April 3, Fineko/abc.az. American corporation Microsoft plans to invest up to $10 bn in development of artificial intelligence and cloud computing technologies in Japan.

ABC.AZ reports, referring to Reuters, that the investments are calculated up to 2029. They include training of 1 million engineers and developers by the beginning of the next decade. As part of this initiative, Microsoft will work together with SoftBank Group and Sakura Internet.

Those investments will allow Microsoft not only to strengthen its position in the Japanese market, but also to create the necessary conditions for scaling Azure cloud services.

According to Japanese government estimates, by 2040, the country will face projected shortage of more than 3 million specialists in the field of AI and robotics.
