February 24, Fineko/abc.az. The record high prices for coffee in recent years are partly explained by the extreme weather in the countries of the "coffee belt" where Arabica is grown.
ABC.AZ informs that according to a study by Climate Central, because of global warming in the five leading producing countries - Brazil, Vietnam, Colombia, Ethiopia and Indonesia - the average annual number of days with temperatures above 30°C, harmful to coffee, increased by 57.
High temperatures cause stress in plants, reduce yields and degrade grain quality, which leads to an increase in world prices. According to the International Coffee Organization, in December 2025, the average price of a pound of green coffee in the U.S. reached about $3 versus $1.6–1.8 two years ago.
