May 14, Fineko/abc.az. Western countries have frozen nearly $590 bn belonging to Russia, Cuba, Venezuela, Iraq, Iran, North Korea, Libya and Afghanistan.

ABC.AZ informs that Sergei Shoigu, Secretary of the Russian Security Council, said this at a meeting of the Secretaries of the Security Councils of the SCO member states.

According to Shoigu, a significant part of the blocked finances accounts for Afghanistan (around $100 bn), which complicates normalization of the economic situation in the country. He added that some of those assets were used by the U.S., Britain and Germany, including the decision of the Joe Biden administration to send $3.5 bn to compensate the families of victims of the September 11 attacks.
