August 11, Fineko/abc.az. Yerevan and Baku have removed from agenda of negotiations the matter of creation of the Zangezur Corridor, which would be under the jurisdiction of Azerbaijan.
ABC.AZ informs that Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi made the relevant statemrnt, when explaining that now speech is about a transit route that does not violate Armenia's sovereignty.
"The idea of creating a transport corridor has completely lost its significance. Now speech is about creation of a transit highway, which will be under the jurisdiction of Armenia and under the management of a joint Armenian-American company, also registered in Armenia," he said.
According to Araghchi, Tehran is holding consultations with Yerevan on the parameters of the settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict.
"We still have our concerns, as any foreign presence in the South Caucasus could have negative consequences for peace and stability in the region, as we have repeatedly reminded both countries," he added.
Earlier, advisor to the Supreme leader of Iran, Ali Akbar Velayati, opposed the creation of a transport corridor that would run through Armenia and connect the main part of Azerbaijan with its enclave in Nakhchivan, promising that the Islamic republic would oppose the implementation of such a project for reasons of ensuring its security.
